......is exactly what a group of intrepid cadets accompanied by Sergeant Dan Boyd and Sergeant Sarah Furness, ably led by Staff Sergeant Dave Hobbs and Staff Sergeant Darren Batchelor, did when they undertook a Duke of Edinburgh's Award Gold Practice Expedition by tackling the ruggedness of Mount Snowdon. Photos from this expedition will show that they lived up to the saying on the Cadet 150 Banner - "Live the Adventure" - Oh, and the Banner flew proudly on Snowdon!

It was quite a family affair for three of the Adults from Berkshire ACF at this year's Annual Camp as Major Ged Lawton was followed by his son Aaron, daughter Elise and step-son Joe, along with Captain Brian Harris being followed by his son Christopher and daughter Georgina and finally, Sergeant Kim Green was followed by both her sons Peter and Paul.
Sunday 1st August saw cadets and adults all head off to Kent for their annual two weeks of a fun filled, action packed Annual Camp at St. Martin's Plain Camp, Folkestone. The weather for the most part was extremely kind to us bringing some lovely sunny days, there was some rain but this did not deter the enthusiasm of the cadets, nor did it interrupt the training programme.
Even the local sea gulls enjoyed themselves especially sampling a haversack ration and one in particular who helped himself to a Cadre Nominal Roll from inside a building!! Was he checking to see if Cdt C Gull was on parade??

On Tuesday 25th May 2010, Lieutenant Colonel Ian Cooper, Chief Instructor for the Defence College Aeronautical Engineering at Arborfield, presented the coveted light blue beret to 6 cadets of 11 Platoon Arborfield.
During the presentation Lt Col Cooper commented on the integrity associated with wearing the light blue beret and the need to maintain the highest standard at all times. The cadets have all completed 1 Star APC training with the addition of an aviation maintenance exam.
This is the first time that any cadet unit has worn the light blue beret with a REME cap badge within the Army Cadet Force.

Cadets from the Sea Cadet Corps, the Army Cadet Force and the Air Training Corps came together in Windsor with their counterparts from across Berkshire on Sunday 9th May for a massed parade to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the formation of the cadet movement.
In full view of the general public the parade departed Victoria Barracks to the sound of the joint cadet band and marched through Windsor, ending in a magnificent arrival through King Henry VIII gate and into Windsor castle. There then followed a service at St Georges chapel which is situated within the Castle grounds before the parade retraced its steps and performed an immaculate march past and salute of a number of dignitaries including the HM Lord Lieutenant for The Royal Caounty of Berkshire The Honourable Mrs Mary Bayliss LL JP and the Governor of Windsor Castle Air Marshal Ian David Macfadyen, CB, OBE, RAF.
The event ended with a group photograph of over 150 staff and cadets followed by lunch, the chance for the cadets to mingle and chat with the dignitaries and a look round display stands from the various cadet organisations.
Speaking to the staff and cadets after the parade the Lord Lieutenant said “I am extremely grateful for all the effort that has gone into making today such a success but more than that I would like to say how well the cadets have performed, being so immaculate in appearance and perfectly drilled.

This year saw the 19th Anniversary of annual exchange trips between The Royal County of Berkshire ACF and the HV02 (Oslo & Akerhaus) Home Guard Youth, a unique event within the ACF that only came about following a chance encounter between Major Guy Alway and Col Odd Ivar Ruud during a walking holiday in Europe. This year, the visit included a Winter Training Exercise at Heistadmoen Training Camp and Area; a visit to the Norsk Hydro’s Heavy Water Plant at Vemork in Rjukan, scene of one of the most dramatic chapters in Norwegian war history and a vital element in Germany’s efforts to manufacture its atomic bomb. This was ultimately a very successful mission but for those who are interested, the Hollywood film “The Heroes of Telemark” gives a reasonably accurate account. After a guided tour of the facility we held a small ceremony, where we laid a wreath at the monument commemorating the events of 1943, during which 34 members of the Royal Engineers and 7 Aircrew gave their lives, and finally a trip in the Rujkan Cable Car to Hardanger Vidda, the highest plateau in Europe/Scandinavia.
A selection of the many photos that were taken of the trip can be seen HERE.
