About The Army Cadet Force

The Army Cadet Force is a voluntary youth organisation, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence, which offers some 50,000 plus, boys and girls plenty of opportunities to try exciting and adventurous activities. The ACF has been successfully helping young people for well over 125 years.

The Army Cadet Force is not a recruitment agency for the Regular or Armed Forces, it is not part of the Army, nor is it the Territorial Army.

We are not here to make anyone join the Army but we can help and advise you should you wish to once you have left school.

Joining the Army Cadet Force

If you're aged between 12-18 and are looking to become a cadet, this website will help give you an insight into the Army Cadet Force in general but more specifically our County ACF.

The best way forward, is to pop along to a Detachment of your choice, just follow the link titled Detachments and you will find out where and when the cadets of Berkshire meet.

Once joining cadets, after the appropriate training you will get the chance to fire rifles on professional Army ranges, go Adventurous Training (AT); rock climbing, abseiling, clay pigeon shooting, mountain biking, canoeing, participate in fully tactical exercises and take part in sporting events such as athletics, 6-a-side football, 7-a-side rugby, swimming and cross-country running. Or if you can play a musical instrument there is a chance for you to join our Band.

Parents and Guardians, some useful information can be found here.
